why pizza?

John Messina and Christine Daly met in 2011 while serving an Americorps term in Austin with the Texas Conservation Corps. Later as roommates in Austin, they built a brick pizza oven in the backyard and would host parties with a “bring your own topping” theme. They bonded over their love for fermentation science and both would end up in the world of winemaking and grape growing. It was here where the idea arose to translate the skills from winemaking to pizza making. Christine,as a native New Yorker wanted to bring the concept of the New York slice shop to Wimberley, so they bootstrapped the business, and renovated an old deck oven and handmade trailer to bring the idea to life.
